Plaque which recalls that in this place, place des Cordeliers, took place the first flight of a hot air balloon, ancestor of the hot air balloon, and this on June 4, 1783 by the brothers Étienne and Joseph de Montgolfier.

The town of Annonay is recognized as an "Aerospatial Historic Site". The International Scientific Community hastened to exploit the lessons of hot air balloon flight. This discovery will inspire the main achievements of the aeronautical and astronautical world.
