Annonay
This square was created in 1480 to leave more space for the Place de la Liberté market. Here will now take place the grain market, hence the grain hall. The fountain dates from 1726.
The market square quickly became too cramped and the grain market moved here in 1480, hence the name "grenette". When you see a street or a grenette square, it is always linked to the grain trade. We see the Halle restored. On this square you can admire a beautiful 1th century door by a former potter Lambert (lintels and pilasters in stone), as well as the first public fountain (1726). The water from the springs on the Montmiandon hill was collected in terracotta pipes and fed by gravity to 3 fountains in the town, easy gravity with the significant drop in the town of 290 and 530 meters.
