Presentation
Statue of the two brothers Etienne and Joseph de Montgolfier, who realized in 1783 one of the old dreams of Man: to rise and fly freely in the air thanks to the first flight of the hot air balloon.
This bronze statue of the Montgolfier brothers by Henri Cordier was cast for the hundredth anniversary of their experience in Annonay, in 1883. First erected on Place des Cordeliers (August 13), it was transferred in 1888 to Place de l'Hôtel of City. It shows Joseph, on one knee, inflating a small paper balloon with his brother Etienne.
