Presentation

Jean-Marcel Heraut is a painter born in 1920, who exhibited his works in Paris, New York and Amsterdam. His workshop in the "Petite Baronnie" is in the shape of the bow of a boat.

Jean Marcel Heraut (1920-1982) appears as a prodigy of French painting. At the age of 17, he presented his first exhibition with Frechier and Pierrefeu, in Lyon where he entered the School of Fine Arts. In 1942, thanks to an internship with Albert Gleizes, he learned the trade of manual painter. His works have a neo-impressionist and cubist influence. He was long in search of his own style which was “vitalism”. Vitalism is a harmony of colors and tones that wants to express life. When he settled in Serrières, he baptized his workshop “La Petite Baronnie”. His wife, Denise Legrain, was "Meilleur Ouvrier de France" in embroidery.
