Get your fill of thrills with the Ardèche railbike, in the Gorges du Doux.
This unusual activity offers a 360° panorama in the heart of nature.
Follow the rails and pedal for 8, 12 or 20 km to discover inaccessible landscapes.

From Easter to All Saints' Day, departing from Boucieu le Roi, the Ardèche Railbike, in the Doux Gorges, offers a fun and friendly outdoor activity. Hop aboard pedal-powered railcars on the historic Vivarais Railway line.

The railbikes are equipped with 5 seats that can accommodate 2 pedalers at the front and up to 3 passengers at the back. To pedal, people must be over 1,40 m tall and children must be accompanied by an adult who must be at the front. For safety reasons, children under 9 kg are not allowed on our railbikes. From 9 kg, a suitable car seat is installed by our team (reservation required).

Three routes are offered:
Les Châtaigniers: ideal for beginners, this 8-kilometer course allows you to practice an outdoor activity along the rails. Crossing viaducts and panoramic views of the villages of the upper Doux valley punctuate the adventure! (1 hour 45 minutes of round trip activity, with departure by railcar and return by rail bike)

Les Etroits: this 12-kilometer route provides access to the heart of the Gorges du Doux, where the river weaves with difficulty between the rocks. The railway line hangs on the side of a cliff, on a succession of cut stone retaining walls, and crosses a 265 meter long tunnel (2 hours of round trip activity, with departure by rail bike and return by rail car).

The Great Adventure: for even more fun, this formula offers 20 kilometers of discovery in the heart of nature, bringing together the Châtaigniers and Etroits routes. Attention thrill-seekers! (4 hours of round trip activity, with intermediate comfort break)

The activity works even in the rain: bring suitable clothing if necessary.

Summer special: from August 1 to 24, 2025, enjoy the beautiful summer lights with the Vélorail du Coucher de Soleil! Departure from Boucieu-le-Roi at 19:00 p.m. 1h45 of round trip activity, with departure by railcar and return by railbike.
