Vineyards and discoveries

Presentation

Located in the North of Ardèche, between the Rhône Valley and the first foothills of the Massif Central, Saint-Désirat is a charming village which combines terroir, culture and nature.

Just a few kilometers from Annonay, Saint-Désirat offers a peaceful respite in the heart of the Saint-Joseph appellation's hillsides. The surrounding vineyards offer beautiful panoramic views of the Rhône Valley and are a reminder of winemaking expertise passed down through generations.

The village also bears the traces of a significant Gallo-Roman occupation: on the Châtelet hill stood a vast temple dedicated to Apollo Augustus, whose excavations have revealed its architectural richness. The site is no longer visible today, but it remains a significant element of local history.

Saint-Désirat is also renowned for the Jean Gauthier Distillery, a must-see for discovering eaux-de-vie, liqueurs and gourmet traditions.

Around the village, paths and small roads invite hiking or cycling, winding between vineyards, orchards and woods, with open views of the Ardèche hills. A village where heritage, flavors and landscapes naturally intertwine.
