Oil paintings, drawings, and parchments compose a dense and vibrant body of work, in which the artist sketches a deliberately imperfect imitation of creation. Inspired by the figure of the golem—a creature fashioned by humankind and imbued with a power that transcends it—Uta Richter explores the fundamental tensions that permeate our era: power without responsibility, the pervasive threat, the need for protection, and the powerlessness in the face of what we ourselves have created.
Her work, both delicate and intense, plays with materials, textures, and symbols. Forms seem to emerge, fragile and vibrant, as if suspended between appearance and disappearance. Each piece invites attentive contemplation and opens a space for sensitive reflection on our relationship to creation, control, and vulnerability.
