Overview

Exceptional estate designed by Marc Seguin to be dedicated to research, creation and transmission.

The Domaine de Varagnes is therefore equipped with workshops and laboratories, a library, an observatory and an artist's studio and also equipped with a very beautiful double-walled greenhouse decorated by its children, the all registered as Historic Monuments since 1992.

The books and archives have been classified as Historic Monuments since 2022.

Famous inventor of the cable suspension bridge and the tubular boiler, and builder of the first modern railway line in continental Europe between Saint-Etienne and Lyon, Marc Seguin bought the property in 1860 at the age of 75.

From the remains of a fortified house, it will make an incredible place, unique of its kind, since no other private residence was imagined at the time to allow activities involving sciences, arts and techniques to be pursued.
