Freshness on the way
When the sun gets a little too hot, we seek respite under the foliage... Good news: in Northern Ardèche, some shaded hikes know how to keep cool. Majestic trees, hidden streams, welcoming shade: these walks invite us to slow down. We take our time, we breathe, we listen to nature. On foot, with family or friends, we venture out without rushing.
Here are three ideas for shaded hikes to explore this summer. Accessible, refreshing, and rejuvenating. Try them for a wellness break or a breath of fresh air.

Lac du Ternay, shaded hike
Stroll under the cedars of Lebanon, along a peaceful lake, stop for a picnic or observe the reflections on the water... The path that goes around Lac du Ternay is a must for a family outing or a quiet moment just a stone's throw from Annonay.
An easy, shaded trail from start to finish. Want to extend your walk? A more challenging loop leads to Crêt de Pierre Bertrand, with a lovely viewpoint as a bonus.
The Afar Trail, a hike in the forest
In the heart of the forest, this fun trail combines nature, wooden sculptures and local legends.
We follow pearls hanging from trees, we come across astonishing works of art, we walk along a stream listening to the leaves rustle.
Accessible and shaded, this 1-hour trail is ideal for a family walk where young and old alike will enjoy being surprised.

The sources of the Cance, a refreshing hike
Here, there's room for freshness, calm, and observation. This educational trail of approximately 11 km (3 hours) allows you to discover the origins of the Cance River through a series of thematic panels.
We walk quietly in the shade, exploring forest landscapes, between hidden heritage and local flora. An immersive itinerary that invites us to walk differently, with curiosity and slowness.
