In a legendary place, the birthplace of the Montgolfier brothers, this museum brings stationery back to life from the 17th to the 21st century. In this museum, animated machines alternate with demonstrations by guides.
The visitor follows in the footsteps left by papermakers for several centuries.
It's the magic of the leaf that we see being made in the ancient vat, the sound of the huge machine starting up, the passage through the reconstituted chapel.
Machines, objects, documents, videos alternate and are an asset to adapt the discovery to the age of the visitor.
Through paper, the themes of the forest, water, the inventions of Montgolfier and Canson, paternalism, etc. are also addressed.
An inanimate museum, no, a living museum, yes...

A 10-12 minute papermaking video;
10 rooms in the birthplace of the Montgolfier brothers presenting the history of papermaking and the evolution of techniques over more than 3 centuries;
A vaulted workshop of 500m2 with animated machines and demonstration of making paper by hand.

12 rooms are to be visited. English and German only for groups and by reservation. Group visits only by appointment made at least one week before the planned date for a minimum of 15 people
