Exhibitions at St Marie Chapel in the summer
The Contemporary Art Group was created in 1978 at the instigation of passionate art lovers, including several collectors: Jacques Nugues, André Paret and Serge Vernay.
Since its creation, the GAC has been part of the contemporary artistic scene and has established the link between cultural identities, territories and contemporary creation in the field of visual arts.
The GAC, a place of production and dissemination, deploys its activities through a demanding annual program, support for artistic production, print publishing and mediation and awareness-raising actions with the widest audiences.
Through its freedom of programming, it offers the public many forms and artistic practices and allows the discovery of singular universes. For these re-named or emerging, international or local artists, it is a space for experimentation, research and active support in their production and artistic project.
Since 2014, the “RDV au GAC” have been part of the exhibition program with one-off events: conferences, meetings with artists, performances, etc. to raise awareness and act in favor of knowledge of the work and of contemporary artists.
The GAC is committed to fostering encounters between the public and contemporary work and, since 2013, has set up an art library made up of a collection of more than 850 prints in circulation. The loan of works is open to schools, associations, businesses in the area and to individuals.
Privileged partner for artistic education, the GAC develops a program of cultural actions with schools from kindergarten to higher education.
