Presentation

With Alain QUIGNARD, former IFPEN fuels and low-carbon fuels expert, vice-president of the GFC - Free entry - No reservation - Duration: approximately 90 minutes - Location: Amphitheater of L'Arche des Métiers

Alain QUIGNARD presents the evolution of land, air and maritime transport and the energies used. It thus shows the scale and complexity of the very important change underway and to come in transport, responsible for a quarter of greenhouse gas emissions, to achieve the carbon neutrality objectives in 2050 and make it possible to make the good, informed choices.

We are today at a major turning point in transport to achieve the ambitious carbon neutrality objective set by the European Commission:
- “revolution” already clearly visible in the automotive world with the rapid progression of light electric and hybrid/rechargeable hybrid vehicles and the decision of manufacturers to no longer develop thermal engines for automobiles;
- “revolution” less visible, but just as important, in the world of heavy goods vehicles, aviation and maritime.
The world of transport must therefore face major challenges and adapt very quickly to this “revolution” never before seen in the history of transport.
Finally, to meet the immense challenge of carbon neutrality in transport, it is essential to remember that no single solution is possible, and that we will need all of these solutions, which are very often complementary.
